About Kinza Khan
Hi! I am Kinza Khan, the founder and principal attorney at Kinza Khan Legal, LLC. I have dedicated my career to providing compassionate, culturally attuned, and trauma-informed legal services to marginalized communities.
I grew up in Chicago to parents who immigrated from Pakistan, and I carry an intersectional identity as South Asian and Muslim. I understand the unique cultural, religious, and social challenges my clients face, and this personal connection drives my mission to ensure that every client feels heard, respected, and empowered.
As a solo practitioner, I handle each case personally, bringing sensitivity, patience, and respect to every client interaction. I start by educating my clients about the legal system, the various forms of domestic violence, and their rights: I believe education is empowerment. At Kinza Khan Legal, I am more than just an attorney: I am a dedicated ally, here to help clients navigate challenging circumstances with dignity and confidence.
A Flat-Fee Model
After years of working in nonprofit legal organizations and private firms, I saw firsthand how many people fall through the cracks — unable to afford quality legal representation, yet not qualifying for free services. Too often, survivors of domestic violence or individuals navigating normal life changes like divorce are forced to choose between financial stability and legal help.
For clients who don’t qualify for free legal aid, the only other option for those seeking representation is often to hire a private attorney - and most charge by the hour. My own hourly rate is $325/hour, but I offer a flat fee model because I believe there’s a better, fairer way to serve clients.
At Kinza Khan Legal, I believe access to justice shouldn’t come with financial uncertainty or punishment for being a victim. Traditional hourly billing often creates unexpected costs and added stress, leaving clients stranded mid-case when fees become overwhelming.
My flat fee model is designed to change that. From the start, you know exactly what your legal services will cost. We can create customized payment schedules that work for your budget, and you can focus on your case without fear of rising bills.
Flat fees also encourage efficiency and transparency — I’m motivated to resolve your case effectively and on time, not to bill more hours. This structure supports a healthier, more trusting attorney-client relationship built on clarity and fairness.

Yes, but my capacity may be limited. While I would not be able to provide you with full legal representation, I would be able to inform you about the legal process, identify and define domestic violence and safety planning for you, and conduct mediation if you are interested. Our mediation services are available nationwide.
